Find out how federal agencies are using building information modeling (BIM) for space and equipment planning by attending an upcoming Federal Real Property Association meeting, entitled “Federal Agency Collaboration Using BIM and the Cloud,” to be held next Tuesday, March 22 from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm, in Washington, D.C.

Members of the team responsible for the project will talk about the space and equipment and planning system (SEPS) developed for use by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA); U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Defense Health Agency (DHA); and Office of Construction and Facility Management (OCFM), Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and how it has been web-enabled.

This past October, the team, consisting of VA, DHA, OMB and the National Institute of Building Sciences and its federal contractors, including Onuma, Inc., won an Asset Leadership Impact Award for federal agency collaboration from the Asset Leadership Network.

During the March 22 meeting, several members of the team will present the SEPS2BIM Project—the first fully developed web-based business process that uses the VA’s SEPS to create web-based, three-dimensional objects of spaces and equipment.
